Bayswater Painters & Decorators

From the first brief to the final paint reference.

A well-defined decorating project has a record that everyone can work from. We discuss the visible result alongside the preparation beneath it, then bring the practical arrangements into the same proposal.

1 / Map the surfaces

Describe the rooms or elevations involved and identify their materials. Include the items that will remain untouched: a tiled floor, a polished handrail, a kitchen fitting or exposed brick. Photographs and a short list can make the initial enquiry useful without attempting to diagnose every defect.

2 / Resolve the specification

Review the current coatings, the required preparation and any work that must precede decoration. Consider colour samples on the property, checking wall and joinery finishes under its actual light. Where consent or a building-wide colour schedule applies, the specification should reflect the accepted treatment rather than leave it to a later choice.

3 / Agree a workable programme

Set out when the work area will be available, who provides keys and how residents or guests will move around it. Confirm the arrangements for protection, equipment, licences and any separate repair contractor. Read those assumptions with the price, inclusions and exclusions. Establish who may authorise a change if the surface reveals something unexpected.

4 / Review and retain the record

Walk through the agreed surfaces with the completed schedule in hand. Record any outstanding point and the person responsible for resolving it. Keep the paint manufacturer, product, colour and sheen references where the owner or manager can retrieve them. For a shared house, that record should survive a change of resident or managing agent.
